UNIT STANDARD ASSESSOR CRITERIA
Assessors should keep the following general principles in mind when designing and conducting assessments against this unit standard:
  • It should be noted that these 5 credits do not necessarily represent 50 notional hours of learning time separate from the rest of a learner`s language course. As a standard aimed at facilitating learning, these outcomes should be integrated into the delivery of a specific learning programme. They should also be assessed in the context of the specific learning programme, or any workplace training. The assessment of successful application of learning strategies and techniques will be done through integrated assessment in relation to the designated outcomes of the learning programme. The development of assessment tasks aimed directly at assessing these outcomes is optional.
  • It is recognised that not all sources of information are available to all learners.
  • People should be culturally and contextually tolerant and sensitive in the process of information gathering.
  • The term `information` includes mathematical data.
  • This unit standard applies across all learning areas and is closely related to Critical Outcome 4.
