Each learner must know the physical layout of the environment as well as the services and facilities which are available. The learner must understand the importance of being able to provide customers with appropriate information and understand his/her role as a representative of the organisation.

UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
1. Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.

2. Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard must be registered with the FE/HE Registrar.

3. Any institution wishing to receive skill development grants must be accredited with the relevant ETQA. Such an institution will also be registered with the relevant SETA.

4. Moderation of assessment will be done by the relevant ETQA at its discretion.

    UNIT STANDARD NOTES 
    Recommendations and Exemplars for the design of:

    Learning/Curriculum:
  • Learning should include a formal induction to the organisation.
  • The learner should familiarise himself/ herself with the company organogram, the physical layout of the organisation as well as all available services.
  • This unit should form part of an induction programme for the learner.
  • Potential project: Each learner could obtain a floor plan of the organisation, mark specific facilities/ services on the plan, departments etc. and build up a portfolio of evidence. Brochures could also be included.
  • Potential exercise: Each learner could spend a period of time trying out all the facilities and complete a guest questionnaire at the end of the induction period.

    Performance systems:
  • Ongoing measurement of the learner`s ability to meet this standard is recommended.
  • A new employee should be able to achieve this unit within 1 month of being trained.
