PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
A person credited with this unit standard is able to implement administrative duties at this particular level with regard to facilities used in the main for sport or fitness at community level. It is important to note that the same facilities in a community will be utilised for multiple purposes to include a variety of facets of sport or fitness activities.

In particular, on completion of this unit standard, the learner is able to:
  • Integrate financial and administrative functions.
  • Consider membership or user issues.
  • Implement maintenance and repair policies.
  • Administer staffing matters.
  • Administer ongoing and special events.

    The qualifying learner will be positioned to extend their learning and practice into other areas of adventure as well as recreation and guiding in general. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    A learner undertaking this unit standard is assumed to already have:
  • Demonstrated competence against relevant unit standards at NQF Level 3 either through a previous qualification or through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which assesses workplace based experiential learning.
  • Demonstrated competence in Language and Communication skills at NQF Level 3 or equivalent. 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
  • Although the learner will manage a sport or fitness facility, he/she will not be expected to be an expert participant or trainer in any sport or fitness field.
  • This unit standard alone will not represent an introduction to management.

    Facilities, grounds and equipment are regularly reviewed for maintenance purposes according to acceptable standards and procedures.

    Repairs are instituted with regard to policy, budget, safety and security, and requirement by users.

    Replacement issues are considered and where required a motivation is accurately compiled and submitted to the appropriate department or designated person.
