This unit standard is useful for learners to buy and sell polished diamond gemstones.

Learners credited with this unit standard are able to:

    Polished diamonds are evaluated against the properties of each polished gemstone and ruling market prices.

    The potential value of the polished gemstones for sale into retail markets is evaluated against holding and selling costs.

    A price is set for purchasing polished gemstones and a bid is made and a transaction concluded in accordance with industry practice.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Polished diamonds are evaluated for sale against ruling market prices and a minimum price is set. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The appropriate market is selected according to the properties of the polished gemstones. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The polished gemstones are submitted for sale in the selected market and if the required price is met the transaction is concluded in accordance with industry practice.
