PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Achieving this Unit Standard will make the qualifying learners in a supervisory capacity working in underground mines, surface mines, quarries and small-scale mines more effective while applying understanding of relevant legislation affecting the workplace on mines.

People credited with this Unit Standard are able to:
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of the relevant aspects of the Labour Relations Act of 1995.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of relevant aspects of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act of 1998.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of the relevant aspects of the Employment Equity Act of 1997.
