PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is aimed at individuals who are responsible for the scheduling of suppliers to deliver products to a Wholesale and Retail unit in accordance with a receiving schedule and urgency of deliveries.

Learners found competent in this unit standard will be able to draft a receiving schedule and will be able to maintain supply performance as per organisational needs and requirements through the addressing of defaulting suppliers and allocation of new delivery slots.

On achievement of this unit standard the learner will be able to:
  • Allocate delivery slots to suppliers.
  • Address defaulting suppliers.
  • Take action on defaulting suppliers.

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 1 
    Allocate delivery slots to suppliers. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The factors to be taken into account when drafting a receiving schedule are idenfied as per organisational requirements. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Factors include but is not limited to quantity of stock, characteristics of stock, capacity of receiving clerks, receiving times, organisational policy on allocation of delivery slots, urgency of delivery.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The time frames required for delivery are determined for different suppliers of goods to the organisation. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    A receiving schedule is drafted and suppliers allocated to the schedule so as to ensure a smooth and equal daily flow of supplies according to requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The receiving schedule requirements are communicated to suppliers and internal role-players according to communication procedures.

    Address defaulting suppliers.

    Suppliers not adhering to the delivery schedule are identified in accordance with organisational procedures.

    Non-adherence includes early as well as late arrivals for scheduled deliveries.

    Reasons for defaulting are determined as per identified suppliers. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Defaulting suppliers are informed of the organisational policy as it relates to supplier defaults and the handling of defaulting suppliers.

    Take action on defaulting suppliers.

    Action is taken on suppliers who arrive early according to organisational policies and procedures.

    The receiving schedule is analysed to identify available slots for late suppliers.

    New delivery slots are allocated to address defaulting suppliers.

    Adjustments to the receiving schedule are communicated to role-players according to procedures.
