PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Learners credited with this Unit Standard will know the importance of business processes in quality management. They will understand and apply the elements of the business process approach in quality management. They will also be able to use technical skills in the business approach and manage the configuration within the quality management system. This standard is about mapping a company's business processes, which are encompassed within quality management.

Learners credited with this standard will be able to:

  • Apply discipline specific technical skills to the business processes.
  • Explain the interaction and integration of business processes with regard to quality management systems.

    The deliverables/elements of the business processes are described using examples. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Elements include documentation, management responsibilities, resource management, product/service realisation, measurement analysis and continual improvement.

    An explanation is given of different monitoring and verification techniques. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Techniques includes but is not limited to test methods, in-process inspection, incoming inspection and calibration.

    The application of different monitoring and verification methods within the quality management system is explained using examples.
