PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for learners working within a Real Estate environment, seeking to acquire or enhance the competences to be a Principal in a Real Estate business or working within a Real Estate environment specialising in management or sales or rental. The acquisition of competence against this standard will add value to their understanding of the sector and functioning in the workplace. This standard will enable the learner to develop a practical understanding of the how to manage community schemes.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Demonstrating an understanding of the governance aspects of community scheme legislation and the legal basis of schemes not based on legislation.
  • Managing community scheme finances.
  • Administering community schemes.
  • Managing the buildings in a community scheme.
  • Managing conflict and the resolution of disputes in community schemes.

    Statutory governance provisions are explained as they relate to a Sectional Title Body Corporate. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The statutory governance provisions are identified and explained for Share Block companies. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The statutory governance provisions for housing developments for retired person are identified and explained with examples. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The way in which Homeowners Associations are governed by Section 21 companies and by Common Law associations is explained with examples.

    Annual budgets are prepared and monthly accounts are managed in line with annual budget.
