PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for persons in the electronic security industry who need to understand the concepts and principles of assessing threats in order to specify, design, sell, plan, and install electronic security systems. It is intended for installers, specifiers, sales people, technicians and anyone who will be involved in any aspect of assessing threat for an electronic security installation. Learners will understand the principles of risk assessment associated with electronic security installations.

A person credited with this unit standard will be able to:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of electronic security principles.
  • Describe factors influencing electronic security protection.
  • Design electronic security protection installations.
