PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to identify and compile a relationship management plan for key stakeholders based on their influence and interest.
Learners will also be able to implement and evaluate the effectives of the relationship management plan and stakeholders involvement on the project. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
It is assumed that the learners are competent in:
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 4 or equivalent.
  • Communication at NQF Level 4 or equivalent.
  • Computer Literacy at NQF Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Unit Standard: Develop a preliminary project scope statement for a simple to moderately complex project at NQF Level 5. 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    Simple to moderately complex project can be defined as projects that have:
  • A high degree of stability, few uncertainties or low rate of change with regard to expected deliverables, phase contents, organisational process and procedures, legislation and team members.
  • Limited range of different methods or approaches relating to; the design and creation of deliverables and end products.
  • Low to moderate impact on the environment and or socio economic elements; Moderate to low need to comply with legislation; Moderate number of stakeholders affected by or interested in the project.
  • Low strategic importance to the organisation or organisations involved; Not necessary identified in strategic plans.
  • Stakeholders, that are in agreement about the characteristics of the product of the project; Benefits of the project well defined and agreed.
  • Low number of different organisations participating in the project; A low number; and or wide variety of interfaces between the project and other organisational entities in order to produce the end deliverable.
  • Stakeholders will include; individuals or a group of individuals who have an interest in the project. Interests may be positive or negative.

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Compile a stakeholder relationship management plan.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The attitude of key stakeholders is investigated and recorded to reflect whether they are supportive of the project's objectives or not. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The interaction and communication requirements of key stakeholders are determined and recorded in the required format. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Protocols applicable to the project are identified and documented in accordance with project requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Key stakeholders' risks are identified, analysed and documented in accordance with project requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    Activities to manage stakeholder relations are defined and documented in accordance with organisational standards and procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 6 
    A stakeholder communication plan is compiled to address the communication requirements of the key stakeholders. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 7 
    A stakeholder relationship management plan is compiled incorporating the defined activities, protocols, risks and the stakeholder communication plan.

    Implement the stakeholder relationship management plan.

    The stakeholder relationship management plan is communicated to the project management team in a format understood by the team. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Interactions and communication with key stakeholders are conducted in accordance with the stakeholder relationship management plan and recorded in the required format. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Key stakeholders' interests are considered when making project decisions in accordance with the stakeholder relationship management plan. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Issues associated with key stakeholders are addressed to minimise the impact on project success. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Addressed includes: acceptance as is, acceptance with modification, or rejection. An issue may be addressed without being fully resolved.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    The stakeholder relationship management plan is revised to provide for changes to key stakeholders and their requirements.

    Information relating to the effectiveness of stakeholder participation and communication is gathered and assembled according to project requirements.

    The information gathered is analysed to establish trends in relation to the contribution to project outcomes. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Remedial actions or recommendations for improvement are determined, documented and presented to higher authority for consideration in projects.
