PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD

Learners who are assessed as competent against this unit standard will be able to implement a quality management system, assist in establishing and implementing a quality improvement process, assist in establishing and implementing a construction project quality plan, and implement a process control quality system and conform to quality acceptance control requirements

This competence complements the other generic management competencies and underpins the Elective learning.

It contributes to the development of a professional community of Building Construction Supervisors. The contribution to The National Skills Development Strategy is the key developmental interface between learners and new competencies to be achieved

Its contribution to socio-economic transformation is that learners would be able to undergo RPL-assessment and thereby receive recognition for previous learning and experience. The employability and career prospects of learners can therefore be enhanced by this qualification.

Implementation of quality improvement processes is limited to those activities within the Learner`s context of supervision.
Conformance to requirements as a definition of quality includes requirements of:

5. Company policies and procedures and,
6. Standard operating procedures

The quality system of prevention involves the implementation of planning, analysis of processes and application of quality in the method of construction in order to ensure conformance to requirements

The quality performance standard is defined as zero defect

UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS

Anyone assessing a learner or moderating the assessment of a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the CETA - ETQA for "The National Certificate in the Supervision of Building Construction Processes".

Any institution offering learning that will enable the achievement of this unit standard must be accredited as a provider with the CETA - ETQA

CETA - ETQA, or other ETQA`s who have a Memorandum of Understanding in place with CETA-ETQA, would be responsible for moderation of learner achievements of learners who meet the requirements of this qualification.
