    Understand an understanding of a trellis system for growing vines.

    1. The factors for erecting a trellis system for growing vines are identified according to criteria. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Factors refer to sunlight, practices and microclimate in a canopy.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    2. Disadvantages for using a trellis system are explained according to criteria. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Disadvantages may refer to crot, susceptible to diseases and constrains to certain cultivation processes
     

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Prepare to erect a trellis system.

    1. The site plan for erecting a trellis is interpreted in relation to work instructions.

    2. The rows and vines are set-out according to workplace procedures.

    3. Equipment and materials used for trellis erecting are prepared according to workplace procedures.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    1. Trellis system is erected according to workplace procedures. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Factors such as vigour, row wideness, frost and wind influence the choice of a trellis system.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    2. Common problems associated with planting cotton are solved within scope of work.

  • An assessor, accredited by the relevant ETQA, will assess the learner`s competency.
  • Assessment procedures will be supplied by the ETQA in alignment with NSB requirements.

  • Assessment and moderation procedures, activities and tools must be transparent, affordable and support development within the field, sub-field and NQF.
