PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is an elective standard and forms part of the qualification, National Certificate in Credit Recovery, and is registered at Level 4 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). Learners working towards this standard will be learning towards the full qualification, or will be working within a Debt Recovery Environment, specializing in either; Debt Collecting or Credit Management, where the acquisition of competence against this standard will add value to one's job. This standard will also add value to learners who have their own or wish to start their own Debt Recovery business. This standard will also add value to learners working within a division of a large organization in the function of Debt Recovery.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Demonstrating knowledge of the application of the legislation in the repossession of goods
  • Administering pre-possession notice requirements
  • Administering post-possession notice requirements
  • Applying relevant legislation in the repossession of goods 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this qualification will have demonstrated competence in written and verbal communications in a first and second language, as well as basic mathematical literacy as per the NQF level 4 qualification or the equivalent thereof. Learners accessing this qualification will also demonstrate competence in the NQF level 4 qualification : Certificate in Debt Recovery core unit standards or the equivalent thereof.   • Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the Financial Services ETQA.
  • Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard or assessing this unit standard must be accredited as a provider with the Financial Services ETQA.
  • Moderation of assessment will be overseen by the Financial Services ETQA according to the moderation guidelines in the relevant qualification and the agreed Financial Services ETQA procedures.
