PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard is intended for people who are, employed in local economic development.It provides the learner with the opportunity to apply his/her knowledge of facilitation in own work context under expert supervision.A learner credited with this Unit Standard are able to:
  • Plan the process and prepare the participants, the environment and him/herself to achieve the agreed goals? Undertake the facilitation as appropriate to the specific contextual requirements.
  • Carry out the relevant and appropriate follow up activities.
  • Evaluate the event held against a plan in terms of the processes and outcomes achieved.
  • Assess own facilitation skills in terms of a completed event. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is assumed that learners are competent in Communication at NQF Level 4.

    1. The objectives of the event are confirmed and aligned with the Invitation/ Attendance List and the proposed agenda and format.

    2. The event venue is booked and equipped to facilitate the planned group process.

    3. Participants are sent an appropriate invitation, timeously, with details of the event particulars and any preparation work for the event.

    Undertake the facilitation as appropriate to the specific contextual requirements.

    1. The closing administration is completed with regard to vacating the venue and returning the tools to storage as well as making follow on bookings if applicable.

    2. The required documentation is prepared in a standardised format with the input of all the relevant role players.

    3. The finalised documentation is distributed to all relevant stakeholders and role players with due regard being paid to the issue of confidentiality and onward use of the work product.

    1. The event process is reviewed and a critique is done of the facilitation skills in terms of the extent to which they ensured that the process was efficient and effective. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    2. The feedback from the event participants is studied to identify the facilitator behaviour that helped or hindered the process. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    3. An action plan is prepared and explained that addresses the identified development needs in the facilitator`s behaviour repertoire. 


    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
    1. Anyone assessing a learner against this Unit Standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA, or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
    2. Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this Unit Standard or will assess this Unit Standard must be accredited as a provider with the relevant ETQ, or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA .
    3. Moderation of assessment will be overseen by the relevant ETQA according to the moderation guidelines in the relevant qualification and the agreed ETQA procedures or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA .
