PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
The purpose of this Unit Standard is to enable Plasterers to apply different plastering to walls, columns, reveals and sills, ceilings, and beams, to construct insitu mouldings, and attach prefabricated plaster units. |

UNIT STANDARD RANGE |
1. Internal and external corners are to be finished with the relevant internal or external corner tools.
2. Walls include straight, vertical, curved, inclined and projecting surfaces. 3. Columns include square and round surfaces. 4. Plastered surfaces to be both wood and steel float finished. 5. Prefabricated mouldings include gypsum plaster, and expanded plastic forms. 6. All completed surfaces to be straight and even i.e. free of bumps or hollows, and free of tool marks. 7. Internal angles to floors and ceilings to be finished off clean and sharp. 8. Plastering of composite board ceilings includes the application of scrim/fibre tape over joints, and the securing of clout nails. 9. Plaster finishes include smooth, scratch and splatter types. |
