PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
A learner accredited with this standard will be able to manage freight and freight integrity, and plan, evaluate and implement freight location systems.

    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
    1. Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.

    2. Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard must be registered with the FE/HE Registrar and the programs offered by this institution must be accredited with the relevant ETQA.

    1. Warehousing and distribution practices (e.g. stock/inventory levels, stock/freight ownership, freight storage and movement practices, distribution methodologies - centralised/non-centralised) in wholesale operations versus third party storage operations.

    2. Basic principles of demand forecasting and storage/location design/planning (e.g. racking, binning, temperature control).

    3. The interrelationship between freight management and all related activities in the logistics chain (e.g. marketing department, receipt and dispatch procedures, warehouse design, transportation/distribution planning).

    4. Basic loss control principles in order to manage physical and operational freight security (e.g. reports, cages) and integrity (e.g. bond stores, quarantine regulations).

    5. Industry specific legislation pertaining to human resources, geographic environment, operating environment and freight management (e.g. OHS Act).

    6. Storage principles and techniques.
