PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
A learner accredited with this standard will be able to demonstrate an integrated practical and theoretical knowledge in freight elevators, conveyor belt systems and ancillary equipment, according to safe handling and machinery maintenance practices in compliance with manufacturer and legislated standards. The learner will be able demonstrate the handling, protection and care of freight during the movement process in accordance with the customers requirements. |

Pre-operational checks of machinery and equipment in terms of manufacturer's specifications, and relevant safety legislation (e.g. Occupational Health and Safety Act) to ensure operational fitness. 2. Bulk product characteristics and the safety and commercial risks associated with contamination of different products. 3. Ancillary equipment utilised for different bulk products in different operating environments. 4. Layout of conveyor systems (e.g. location, transfer points and combinations of different routes). |
