UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS |
1. Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.
2. Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard must be accredited by the Freight Handling Chamber of the Transport SETA and/or relevant ETQA. 3. Moderation of assessment will be done by the relevant ETQA at its discretion. |

The learner can understand, explain and apply:
1. Applicable legislation and regulations (e.g. Road Traffic Act, OSH Act, Merchant Shipping Act) and functions of different statutory bodies (e.g. Port Authorities, customs). 2. Basic topography and geography (local and international). 3. Sources of information pertaining to local and international freight movement. 4. In-house manual and computerised systems dealing with transport planning and scheduling, routing and trucking (e.g. C-Truck). 5. Costs (fixed and variable) associated with transport and one costing technique that is accepted within the industry. 6. Carrier schedules and interpretation thereof. 7. Effect of transport planning on the entire logistics chain. |
