PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for the crew leader working in a supervisory role on structure protection operations. Crew leaders working in such a capacity should apply their knowledge and understanding of risk analysis and executing an effective structure protection operation.

People credited with this unit standard are able to:
  • Conduct risk analysis for structure protection operations in a given setting.
  • Co-ordinate team activities in conducting structure protection operations in a rural urban interface.
  • Conduct post structure protection operations according to plan.

    A comprehensive risk assessment is conducted for potential loss of life. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Risk assessment includes but is not limited to the safety of fire fighter and the public.

    A comprehensive risk assessment is conducted for the potential loss of property according to the structure protection triage.

    Types of property structure includes but is not limited to defensible (prep and hold), defensible (stand alone), Non defensible (prep and leave), Non defensible (rescue and drive by).
