PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The purpose of the learning is to enable a learner to be able to contextualise and pre-visualise photographic images from a specific brief.

This unit standard contributes to the competence of those learners who want to pursue a career in the Photographic and/or Design sector, and contribute to greater levels of production and quality in this sector. The unit encompasses the researching of photographic subject matters from a variety of genres, contextualising research result into visual communication and present ideas for capturing into photographic images.

Credited learners are capable of:
  • Researching photographic subject matters and approaches to contextualise and pre-visualise photographic images.
  • Contextualising research on a photographic brief according to its criteria.
  • Applying photographic techniques to content according to accepted given standards.
  • Delivering the pre-visualised proposal in a manner that will contextualise and pre-visualise the photographic images.
  • Evaluating and refining visual communication to improve contextualization and pre-visualisation process.
