PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to organise and carrying out of post-production and finishing operations in order to ensure all the manufactured and/or assembled products meet both the customers and/or job requirements.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Preparing for post-production and finishing activities.
  • Applying finishing procedures to product.
  • Carrying out post-production/assembly operations.

    Apply finishing procedures to product. 
    OUTCOME RANGE 
    Finishing products may include marking, labelling, stamping; packing, wrapping, stacking; simple product testing such as functionality testing, bundling, strapping, coiling, straightening, binding and reeling.

    Wastage or damage to product is kept to a minimum.

    Finished products are sent to the next stage or storage.

    Carry out post-production/assembly operations.

    Post-production operations include clamping, placing into fixtures or jigs, cleaning off residues, polishing, wiping, washing, dusting, lifting, removing product; conditioning, annealing or post-cure, spraying and punching.

    Implications of the incorrect storing of materials, tools and equipment are described of its impact on health, safety and production.
