PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The qualifying learner will be able to afford on-track protection according to company-specific train working rules applicable to specific circumstances to contribute to safe movement on rail for staff, commuters, trains, machinery and infrastructure.

The qualifying learner will be capable of:
  • Mitigating the impact of hazards and risks in railway operations.
  • Responding to an emergency situation.
  • Affording protection in applicable area of operation.
  • Conducting post protection procedures.
