PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard will be useful to people who are required to clean up cast pieces utilising commonly used abrasives prior to final finish.

People credited with this unit standard are able to:
  • Remove sprues from the cast jewellery piece.
  • File and grind the cast jewellery piece.
  • Sand the cast jewellery piece.
  • Tumble the cast jewellery piece.

    The following range applies to this unit standard:

    Abrasives must include the following:
  • Grinding wheels with difference grits.
  • Spindle with sandpaper.
  • Sanding discs.
  • Rubber wheels.
