PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
Operating a floating crane takes place within a regulatory framework that seeks to ensure safety of the operator, the crane itself and its environment. Floating cranes are inherently dangerous; hence, their safe operation cannot be overstated. The learner will also acquire the competencies and skills to operate the components, systems and joy sticks to accomplish the task of lifting and handling loads appropriately. The aspects of safety and communication during the lifting operation are covered.
It is important that the learners operate floating cranes using the competencies in this Unit Standard and in keeping with the requirements of the National Code of Practice (NCOP) for the Evaluation of Training Providers for Floating crane Operators (Government Gazette 27292 - 18 February 2005). Learners credited with this standard will be capable of: |

PROVIDERS CURRENTLY ACCREDITED TO OFFER THIS UNIT STANDARD: |
This information shows the current accreditations (i.e. those not past their accreditation end dates), and is the most complete record available to SAQA as of today. Some Primary or Delegated Quality Assurance Functionaries have a lag in their recording systems for provider accreditation, in turn leading to a lag in notifying SAQA of all the providers that they have accredited to offer qualifications and unit standards, as well as any extensions to accreditation end dates. The relevant Primary or Delegated Quality Assurance Functionary should be notified if a record appears to be missing from here. |
