People in the field of Automotive repair and maintenance require the skills, values and knowledge reflected in this unit standard. The learning outcomes in this unit standard also contribute to the exit level outcomes required for various manufacturing and engineering qualifications. The learner is capable of carrying out a general automotive service to maintain the vehicle in an operational condition and will have an understanding of preventative maintenance principles. This unit standard may be used in the context of one or more of the following areas of specialisation:

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING |
It is assumed that the learner has already learned the use of engineering hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment and to maintain a safe and productive working environment.
Learners are also assumed to be competent in Mathematical literacy and Communication at NQF Level 1. |
