PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for people in the automotive engineering industry who are expected to diagnose and repair automatic transmissions in accordance with workplace procedures and manufacturer service manuals.

People credited with this unit standard are able to:
  • Read and interpret the job instructions.
  • Select and connect the required test equipment.
  • Test and adjust automatic transmissions.
  • Check the operational condition after adjustment.
  • Apply safety procedures during the repair and assembly task.
  • Restore work area, complete and process documentation.

    This unit standard is a core standard in the context of one or more of the following areas of specialisation:
