PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The purpose of this unit standard is to enable the safe, efficient and correct completion of maintaining, servicing or fault-finding and fault-resolving or repairs to machines, equipment and systems in a gaming situation.

On achievement of this unit standard the learner will understand and be able to:
  • Comply with relevant Gaming Board Rules and Regulations, other legislation and company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct maintenance and servicing of gaming machines and gaming related equipment and systems.
  • Carry out fault finding and fault resolution of gaming machines and gaming related equipment and systems.
  • Complete repairs covered by company policy and procedure and oversee other repairs.
  • Respond to relevant issues.

    It is assumed that learners are competent in:
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 3 or equivalent.

    Comply with relevant Gaming Board Rules and Regulations, other legislation and company policies and procedures.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Relevant gaming Board Rules and Regulations pertaining to repairing and servicing gaming machines and related equipment are explained using practical examples of what may and may not be done. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Other legislation impacting on this operation is identified and an indication given of how it must be complied with when fault finding, repairing and maintaining gaming machines and related equipment. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Company policy and procedures are understood as they relate to conducting fault finding, fault resolution, repair, maintenance and servicing of gaming machines and gaming related equipment and systems. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Occupational health and safety requirements are understood as they apply to fault finding, fault resolution, repair, maintenance and servicing of gaming machines and gaming related equipment and systems. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Conduct maintenance, fault finding, fault resolution, servicing and repair of gaming machines and gaming related equipment and systems. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Operations related to the maintenance and servicing of gaming machines are carried out in accordance with laid down legislation, regulations and organisational policy and procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Operations related to the fault finding and fault resolution of gaming machines are carried out according to organizational policy and procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Due care of customers, operations and assets of the organisation is taken while completing the maintenance or service. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Relevant documentation related to fault finding and fault resolution and repairs is completed according to company procedure and within a specified period. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 3 
    Complete repairs covered by company policy and procedure and oversee other repairs.

    Repairs covered by company policy are completed successfully.

    Repairs which have to be outsourced are monitored to ensure contract agreements are adhered to.

    Appropriate stock levels of parts and spares are maintained so as to ensure minimal disruption to gaming machine and equipment operation.
