PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The purpose of this unit standard is to enable the individual to demonstrate the correct technique when handling chips and be able to demonstrate the necessary dexterity, using both hands.

On achievement of this unit standard the learner will understand and be able to:
  • Make mandatory announcements.
  • Handle chips accurately.
  • Ensure good customer service.

    Various procedures used to handle chips are described as used by dealers adhering to relevant company procedure.

    Situations:
  • Opening a table, buy ins, accepting bets, checking bets, paying out, cashing out, closing a table.
     

  • ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The importance of handling chips appropriately and effectively is outlined in terms oft contributing to the proficiency of a dealer as well as aiding in increased revenue for the casino and overall customer satisfaction.

    Customers are dealt with in a polite, friendly and helpful manner.

    The importance of delivering good customer service is explained in the light of customer loyalty and increased revenue for the casino.

    The impact of not dealing with customers in a polite and efficient manner is described with particular reference to the organisation, self and co-worker.
