The competencies achieved by the learner in this Unit Standard will lead to a safer society for South African citizens.

A learner credited with this unit standard will be able to:
  • Explain the various switches and triggering devices.
  • Identify hazards associated with the various switches and triggering devices.
  • Construct and neutralise switches and triggering devices.

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
It is assumed that the learner has the following knowledge and skills:
  • Communication at NQF Level 4.
  • Physical Science at NQF Level 4.
  • The Unit Standard "Demonstrate the use of electronic systems" at NQF Level 5.

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE
Switches and triggering devices refers to electronic, chemical and mechanical switches and triggering devices.
