PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard enables individuals to order and reconcile stock in the pharmaceutical environment. Specifically individuals will be able to monitor stock levels, order stock and perform the appropriate administrative functions as per the relevant legislative, regulatory and organisational requirements. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
It is assumed that the learner is competent in:
  • Communication at NQF Level 3.
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 3.

    Factors that determine stock demand and usage are identified in accordance with organisation trends.

    Monitoring includes wastage, expiry; and damaged stock.

    Current and future requirements of stock items are determined according to organisational requirements.

    Requirements includes policies; maximum and minimum levels; seasonal requirements; introduction/discontinuation of products; promotional activities.

    The stock administration system is monitored for accuracy and to ensure it is according to SOP.
