Community arts is also known as cultural work and cultural democracy.
A community may pertain to ethnicity, gender, age, geographic boundaries, workplace, special need, or special interest. Processes of community arts include: Research; consultation; networking; power sharing; encouraging autonomy; linking disciplines: (art, education, justice, design, engineering, health, environment); recruitment of local resource people; project development; facilitation; increasing political awareness and empowerment. Knowledge and skill in the area of community arts may be required of people working in community arts for a number of reasons, including: |
