PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
Learners who are assessed as competent against this unit standard will be able to procure, receive, use and store materials in accordance with site procedures and safety and manufacturer specifications.
This competence complements the other generic supervisory competencies and underpins the Elective learning. It contributes to the development of a professional community of Building Construction Supervisors. The contribution to The National Skills Development Strategy is the key developmental interface between learners and new competencies to be achieved. Its contribution to socio-economic transformation is that learners would be able to undergo RPL-assessment and thereby receive recognition for previous learning and experience. The employability and career prospects of learners can therefore be enhanced by this qualification. |

Materials estimates are produced from construction drawings, standard and project specifications, site instructions and variation orders. Procurement, use and storage of materials are in accordance with company procedures, Site Operating procedures, internal quality management systems and company loss control measures. Materials are procured according to legislated and company policies regarding preferential procurement. Storage preparation includes preparing open areas on site, access provision to stores, drainage, safety and security measures. Storage facilities include but are not limited to containers, sheds, silos, bins, and hoppers.
