PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is aimed at individuals responsible for drawing up a staff roster and allocate staff, taking business requirements and the needs of individuals into account. The provision of staff capable of doing the above tasks well should make the use of staff most effective, to the benefit of a wide variety of services in the sub-field.

The qualifying learner will be able to:

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    A determination is made of staffing levels for a given period of time, taking seasonal fluctuations and special events into account as specified by the supervisor. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    A description is presented of factors, which will ensure that staff allocation is fair, transparent and flexible. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    A balanced roster is drawn up and maintained practically during a period of not less than a month, ensuring that all legal and business requirements are met.

    All information is recorded and communicated to relevant staff in a format which adheres to organizational requirements.

  • Anyone assessing an individual against this unit standard must meet the assessor requirements of the relevant ETQA.
