This unit standard will be useful to people who are responsible for removing impurities from carbon by means of acid treatment.

    The actions and conditions pertaining to a safe, healthy work environment in the acid treatment process and the consequences of non-adherence are explained in terms of specified requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The importance of removing impurities from carbon is explained in terms of achieving specific production requirements and up and down stream operational requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Relevant hazards and risks, their possible consequences and appropriate mitigating measures are explained in accordance with HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment) principles and procedures.
