PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The purpose of this unit standard is to enable proper cashiering procedure to be followed and supervised. The individual should develop competent usage of the appropriate policy and procedure. The sub-field should develop a standard approach to dealing with cashiering principles and procedures.

On achievement of this unit standard the learner will understand and be able to:
  • State Gaming Board Requirements pertaining to cashiering administration.
  • Perform cashiering administration.
  • Maintain accuracy and efficiency when cashiering.
  • Demonstrate efficiency in appropriate manual or computer systems.

    On completion of this unit standard the learner should be ready to develop learning in further processes related to effective cashiering.

    Cash desk reconciliation is performed in accordance with agreed priorities and time frames.

    Given unbalanced paperwork, decide on how to balance it and give reasons for the particular approach.

    The relevance of "voiding" and reprinting value documentation and the effect on the balance is explained ably.

    Counts acceptance, accurate completion of paperwork, and the subsequent updating of the missing chip reconciliation is described in terms of interrelationships that exist between them.
