PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for persons who configure installations in various contexts. It will enable learners to plan and configure installations using the necessary methods, tools and equipment.

Learners accredited with this unit standard will be capable of:
  • Preparing for system configuration.
  • Performing system configuration.
  • Testing the system configuration.

    LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
  • Communication at NQF Level 3.
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 3.
  • One of the following unit standards or a unit standard in which knowledge of a specific installation is described:
    > ID 244332: Demonstrate an understanding of electric fencing, NQF Level 4.
    > ID 244325: Demonstrate an understanding of electronic access control, NQF Level 4.
    > ID 244322: Demonstrate an understanding of gate automation, NQF Level 4.
    > ID 244316: Demonstrate an understanding of intruder alarm systems, NQF Level 4.

    Possible configuration options are determined in line with operational requirements.

    Tools and equipment are selected in accordance with the task requirements.

    The reasons why configuration documentation must be completed are explained in line with operational requirements.

  • An individual wishing to be assessed (including through RPL) against this Unit Standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA, or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this Unit Standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this Unit Standard or assessing this Unit Standard must be accredited as a provider with the relevant ETQA or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
