  • Explaining the communication processes in promoting occupational health and safety in the working place.
  • Demonstrating the planning and execution of a project designed to promote occupational health and safety in the working place.
  • Monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of promotional programmes.

    Explain the communication processes in promoting occupational health and safety in the working place.

    Factors that can influence effective communication are explained with reference to the planned target audience. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The needs of the target audience are applied in the planning, preparation and selection of media aids and content of the project. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The promotion of occupational health and safety in the working place is carried out in a manner that fosters teamwork and avoids conflict. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Communication processes and techniques in promoting occupational health and safety in the workplace are explained. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Demonstrate the planning and execution of a project designed to promote occupational health and safety in the working place. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The desired objectives of an occupational health and safety promotional project are described. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The process to obtain management's commitment to actively support the occupational health and safety promotional project is discussed and executed. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The target group for a promotional occupational health and safety project is identified and a schedule for delivery of the promotional project plan is prepared and presented to management for approval. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The implementation of the promotional project is demonstrated and evaluated and the corrective actions to be taken are discussed. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 3 
    Monitor, measure and report on the effectiveness of the promotional programme. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The measurement instrument to determine the effectiveness of the promotional programme is described and demonstrated. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The findings of the effectiveness measurement are recorded and submitted to management. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Recommendations are made to rectify possible problems or gaps identified during the effectiveness assessment. 


    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA or another ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard must be accredited as a provider through the relevant ETQA by SAQA.
  • Moderation of assessment will be overseen by the relevant ETQA according to the moderation guidelines and the agreed ETQA procedures.
