PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for learners who have to demonstrate the ability to monitor, report and advise on the safety principles pertaining to sources of mechanical energy.

Learners credited with this unit standard will be capable of:
  • Monitoring, reporting and advising on the specified requirements pertaining to the safety principles regarding sources of mechanical energy.
  • Applying the safety principles for sources of mechanical energy.
  • Explaining the need for and use of the relevant Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required when dealing with sources of mechanical energy.
  • Monitoring, reporting and advising on the relevant legislation, including laws, by laws and maintenance and handling protocols with examination records, related to sources of mechanical energy.
