PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Qualifying learners are capable of:
  • Preparing a site for partition installation.
  • Construction of:
    > Partition framework.
    > Residential, dry wall and de-mountable partitioning framework.
    > Window and door frames.
  • Applying insulation/acoustic materials.

    These skills will contribute towards the overall efficiency of their employer organisations and ensure that breakages and work stoppages are kept to a minimum and that equipment is used in accordance with best practice and safety procedures.

    This competence also advances a learner's personal expertise and employability in the construction sector and related fields, for example, interior design and refurbishment.

    Construct a suspended ceiling framework.

    The installation of an Exposed Tee suspended ceiling is demonstrated.

    The installation of insulation and acoustic/isolation material is demonstrated.

    The installation of Nogging is demonstrated following installation procedures.

    Nogging is the installation of horizontal support for heavy objects including but not limited to shelves and basins.

    The installation of Bracing is demonstrated. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION NOTES 
    Bracing is the installation of horizontal support for openings including but not limited to serving hatches and large windows.

    The application of insulation and acoustic material to the framework is demonstrated.

    Prescribed safety procedures are adhered to.

    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
  • Anyone assessing a learner or moderating the assessment of a learner against this Unit Standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Any institution offering learning that will enable the achievement of this Unit Standard must be accredited as a provider with the relevant ETQA or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Assessment and moderation of assessment will be overseen by the relevant ETQA or by an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA, according to the ETQA's policies and guidelines for assessment and moderation.
  • Moderation must include both internal and external moderation of assessments at exit points of the Qualification, unless ETQA policies specify otherwise. Moderation should also encompass achievement of the competence described both in individual Unit Standards as well as the integrated competence described in the Qualification.
  • Anyone wishing to be assessed against this Unit Standard may apply to be assessed by any assessment agency, assessor or provider institution that is accredited by the relevant ETQA.
