PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Persons credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the different benefit categories to encourage participation levels in a recreation program. An in-depth understanding will assist the individual to develop sustainable programs with far reaching benefits in keeping with South Africa's objective of improving the health of individuals, the economy, the environment, and the society.

On completion of this unit standard the qualifying learner will be able to:
  • Identify and explain the four major benefit areas of a Recreation programme.
  • Explain the individual benefits of participating in recreation activities.
  • Describe the benefits of recreation programmes on the community.
  • Discuss the benefits of recreation on the economy.
  • Describe the impact of recreation programmes on the environment.

    Learners accessing this unit standard will have demonstrated competence in numeracy and literacy at NQF Level 3 or equivalent.
