PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Learners credited with this unit standard are able to prepare and present proposals to potential sponsors for a specific programme, identify the needs of sponsors and ensure the sponsored resources are properly managed.

On completion of this unit standard the qualifying learner will be able to:
  • Identify potential sponsors for a specific recreation programme.
  • Prepare and present a sponsorship proposal.
  • Prepare a simple sponsorship contract.
  • Prepare plans to manage the sponsorship. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this unit standard will have demonstrated competence in Numeracy and Literacy at NQF Level 3 or equivalent. 

    UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    Programmes include funding for clubs and organizations, teams and groups, individuals, events, programmers and awards.

    Sponsorship refers to obtaining various types of resources for example refreshment, human resources, funding, hire of venue, equipment, and any other assistance to implement successful recreation programs. 

    Specific Outcomes and Assessment Criteria: 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 1 
    Identify potential sponsors for a specific recreation programme. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The programme and its objectives are clearly defined. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The selection criteria of potential sponsors are identified and understood. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Selection criteria includes the target market the sponsor wishes to associate with or given access to, events or programs the sponsor wishes to be associated with.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The programme and the potential sponsors are matched according to the identified selection criteria. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Prepare and present a sponsorship proposal. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The budgetary requirements of the programme are estimated. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The proposal to include the budget and the background information is compiled. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The value of the programme and the benefits that will accrue to the sponsor from being associated with the programme is demonstrated to the sponsor. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Benefits include: media coverage, promotion, increased profile of the sponsor product or image in the community.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The nature and amount of sponsorship sought in the proposal is formulated. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    An appropriate format for presentation to the target audience is choose and designed. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 3 
    Prepare a simple sponsorship contract. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    In consultation with the sponsor, identify and record the sponsor's requirements. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Requirements may include - logo use and placement, acknowledgement, banner placement, media coverage, access to events, launches, functions, presentations, naming rights.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    In consultation with the sponsor identify and record the sponsor's contribution. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Contributions may include money, personal assistance, marketing, advertising, services, staff, facilities, equipment.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The period of sponsorship is clearly defined by both parties. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The terms and conditions of the sponsorship are decided upon and agreed to by both parties. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 4 
    Prepare plans to manage sponsorship. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    A contract or document is prepared and presented to the sponsor for verification. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    An action plan is prepared and presented to the sponsor to demonstrate how the requirements the sponsor will be met. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The benefits to the sponsor are clearly described and explained in terms of the contract document. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Benefits include - media coverage, promotion, and increased profile of the sponsor, product, or image.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    A list of criteria is described to evaluate if the sponsor has achieved the outcomes and benefits after the event. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    A meeting is scheduled with the sponsor with the intention of securing a renewal of the sponsorship. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 6 
    A meeting is scheduled with the sponsor to discuss the reasons why the benefits were not achieved.

  • An individual wishing to be assessed against this unit standard (including through RPL) may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant Education and Training Quality Assurance body (ETQA), or one with an appropriate memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA, or one with an appropriate MOU with the relevant ETQA.
  • Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard, or assessing this unit standard, must be accredited as a provider with the relevant ETQA, or one with an appropriate MOU with the relevant ETQA.
