  • Performing on chosen instrument.
  • Playing sight reading on chosen instrument.

    Instrument maintenance is demonstrated according to manufacturer's specifications and standard industry practice.

    Instrument is made performance ready according to standard industry practice.

    Basic warm up exercises are conducted.

    Basic scales for melodic instruments or basic rudiments for un-tuned percussion instruments passages are played according to standard industry practice.

    Basic technical exercises are played according to standard industry practices.

    Basic chords/broken chords are demonstrated for melodic instruments or basic grooves are demonstrated for un-tuned percussion.

    A basic music piece is performed unaccompanied according to standard practice. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Two basic music pieces differing in genre are performed with accompaniment according to standard practice. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Suitable rhythm and phrasing are applied to the specific pieces according to the genre. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Suitable tempo is applied to the specific pieces according to the genre. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    Performance indicators/form are adhered to in the selected pieces.

    Sight read and play on chosen instrument.

  • Any individual wishing to be assessed, (including RPL) against this Unit Standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA, or an ETQA that has a memorandum of understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this Unit Standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA, or an ETQA that has a memorandum of understanding with the relevant ETQA.
