PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard is intended for people employed in Skills Development Practices in the Public Sector. It could, however, be utilised in other related fields as well.

Learners accessing this Standard will be able to analyse the characteristics of the South African Labour Market Policies (National, Provincial and Local) and be able to incorporate the relevant policies in a local context.

More specifically, the learners will be able to:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the South African labour market.
  • Assess the impact of social, economic, political and cultural influences on the labour market.
  • Identify the role that an identified business unit has to play in addressing the wider labour market focus.
  • Relate labour market research to Sector Skills priorities and demands and integrate priorities into own unit. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    In order to access this unit standard the learner will need a Matric or equivalent certificate. The learner will thus need to demonstrate competence in Communication at NQF level 4. 

    UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    A variety of labour market documentation is identified to identify the skills priorities, such as Provincial Skills Plans, the sector skills plans etc and locally generated studies.

    The linkages between the various role players are applied in a range of workplace situations.

    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
    Accreditation for this Unit Standard shall be obtained from the relevant Education and Training Quality Assurance Body, through summative and formative assessment by a registered assessor.
  • Assessors must be registered as an Assessor with the relevant ETQA.
  • Moderators must be registered as assessors with the relevant ETQA, or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Agreement with the relevant ETQA.
  • Training providers must be accredited by the relevant ETQA.

    Moderation should include both internal and external moderation where applicable.
