PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard will be able to handle assets in transit vehicle operations to utilise the security vehicle effectively and safely. They will also be able to secure, protect and escort assets and crew members during collection, in-transit and delivery operations and contribute to safety and security within the assets in transit environment or national cash management system.

The qualifying learner will be capable of:
  • Preparing vehicle security equipment and systems for assets in transit protection operations.
  • Managing transportation of assets and crew during asset in transit operations.
  • Operating a security vehicle during an emergency situation.
  • Describing the procedures to return and store the assets in transit vehicles.

    Vehicle security system shut down procedures are described in accordance with company operating procedures.

    Shut down does not just refer to the switching off of the vehicle, but to the shutting down of all security systems relating to the assets in transit operations.

    A post trip vehicle inspection is conducted to ensure operational readiness.
