PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Persons credited with this unit standard is able to Operate Automatic Generator Control (AGC), implement tie-line contracts, follow load according to Area Control Error (ACE), time error under normal and abnormal system conditions.

    Tie line Bias Control mode is selected according to Southern African Power Pool criteria, Eskom Power Pool Rules and ancillary agreements/contracts.

    Area Control Error is controlled within parameters according to Southern African Power Pool agreements, Eskom Power Pool Rules and Ancillary agreements/contracts. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Load following is performed according to statutory requirements, system operating guidelines, procedures and Southern African Power Pool agreements, Eskom Power Pool Rules and ancillary agreements/contracts. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Adjustments are performed according to load following Schedule Program, reserve market merit order, regulations and procedures.

    Automatic Generator Control modes, up and down regulation, generator upper and lower limits.

    Time error is controlled within parameters and as per SAPP agreements.
