PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
This Unit Standard is intended for learners in the insurance organisations who advise on insurance for mining operations, Risk Managers, Managers on mines and learners who advise on operational risk on mines.

ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 |
The purpose of the Act is explained with reference to the need to regulate the mining industry and the role of the regulations in supporting the Act with reference to the different topics covered in the regulations. |
ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 |
The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) codes and other legislation that apply to mining are named and an indication is given of the locations or areas of operation in the mines where each is applicable. |

The role of the inspector of mines is explained with reference to the duties and powers of inspectors. |
