PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
Learners' who are assessed as competent against this unit standard will be able to erect ceilings and install appropriate insulation where required, in accordance with the design and construction methods specified in working drawings for houses of a basic design ensuring that the applicable National Building standards, health and safety regulations and prescribed time frames are adhered to.
The competencies contained in this unit standard will provide Community House Builders with an area of specialisation that will lead to the development of enhanced skills and knowledge amongst professional Community House Builders who are able to offer alternative construction methods to meet a wider range of needs and purposes of potential home builders within the community. It should result in improved quality and service delivery in community house building. The contribution to The National Skills Development Strategy is the key developmental interface between Learners' and new competencies to be achieved. This unit standard will provide Learners' with access to the National Certificate in Construction Carpentry - NQF Level 3. |

UNIT STANDARD RANGE |
The competencies specified in this unit standard are applicable to the construction of single storey houses that are rectangular in shape and it is within this context that the learner is required to demonstrate competent performance.
Competence must be demonstrated in the installation of timber ceilings which includes V-jointed tongue and groove timber ceiling for houses of a basic design (rectangular-type). |
