PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard forms part of the Qualification, National Certificate in Funeral Services Practice and is registered at Level 4 on the National Qualifications Framework. Learners working towards this standard will be learning towards the full qualification, or will be involved in or working within a funeral services environment, specialising in Embalming, Marketing and Merchandising or Disaster Management, where the acquisition of competence against this standard will add value to each individual and the Funeral Industry as a whole.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Assessing training needs of individuals, teams and relevant parties
  • Organising training and development activities for individuals and teams 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this qualification will have demonstrated competency in:
  • Numeracy at NQF Level 3 or equivalent.
  • English, verbal and written communication at NQF Level 3 or equivalent.

    1.Individuals and groups are observed and assessed against standards to determine training needs.

    Training and development requirements will include technical skills, product knowledge, information skills, communications skills, problem-solving skills, presentation skills, social skills, co-operative skills, career goals, assessment skills, organising skills.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    2.Evaluations of individual training and development needs are completed. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Training and development will include on-the-job training, coaching, monitoring, seminars, conventions, conferences, workshops, simulations, video's.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    3.Training and developments needs are agreed with individuals and teams. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    4.Available resources and constraints are identified in relation to training and development and produced. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    5.Skill enhancement plans are revised as needed in keeping with resource restraints and/or workplace requirements.

    Training and development will include areas around the Employment Equity Act and Skills Development Act.
