PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to provide the type of assistance required for planning and scheduling to be carried out on projects. They will also be able to identify the data required, to gather and collate this data and provide the required information in the correct format so that the project plan and schedule can be developed and maintained.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Explaining the basic procedures for project planning and scheduling.
  • Gathering and collating planning and scheduling activity data.
  • Gathering and collating activity resource requirements.
  • Gathering and collating progress information for updating schedules.
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of a historical planning and scheduling databank.

    The methods and uses of a Gantt/Bar Chart are described according to project or organisational definitions using examples. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    A simple Gantt/Bar Chart is interpreted to establish the level of progress against the baseline. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The methods and uses of logic sequencing are described with examples within the domain of the project. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Reasons for sequencing project work are explained using a schedule, bar chart or examples. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    The duration and earliest end date of a project are established from a given schedule. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 6 
    The consequences of not completing a project by the end date are elaborated using examples.

    A databank is any collection of relevant data which may be in any form including electronic database, hard copies, etc.

    The relevance and purpose of developing and maintaining a historical databank is explained with examples in the context of the organisation.

    The uses and application of the historical databank are described within the context of the project or organisation.

    The types of data required in the databank are identified in terms of organisational policy. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Planning and scheduling data is collated, indexed and stored in the databank in accordance with organisational policy, and within the required timeframes. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    The information being prepared for storage in the databank is checked for completeness and compliance according to organisational policy. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 6 
    Remedial action is taken as directed in accordance with organisational procedures.
