This unit standard is for people involved in controlling activities at an airstrip during fire suppression. People credited with this unit standard are able to:

  • Apply standard procedures and regulations pertaining to an airstrip used for fire suppression.
  • Apply administrative requirements pertaining to an airstrip used for fire suppression.

    Prepare an airstrip used for aerial fire suppression.

    Reservoir levels are maintained at prescribed levels.

    Stock levels are maintained at prescribed levels.

  • Equipment and pumps are inspected for defects in accordance with checklists and defects rectified.
  • Runway inspected in accordance with standard operating procedures.
